FAQ

Questions people ask before they call

If your question is not here, call us. We would rather answer it on the phone than have you wonder.

How quickly can a doctor or nurse reach me?

It depends on where you are in the emirate and how busy the roster is at that moment. When you call, we give you a realistic arrival window before we dispatch — and we call you if anything changes. Abu Dhabi island is usually quicker than the mainland suburbs or the outer communities.

Are you available at night and on public holidays?

Yes. We operate 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year. Nights, weekends, Eid and National Day are exactly when people cannot get to a clinic, so that is when a home service matters most.

How much does a home visit cost?

The price depends on the service, the time of day and what the visit involves. We confirm the full cost with you on the phone before a clinician is dispatched. You will never be surprised by a charge at the door.

Do you accept insurance?

Insurance coverage for home healthcare varies considerably between providers and policies. Tell our team who you are insured with when you call and we will explain what is covered, what can be direct-billed and what you would pay yourself.

Which areas of Abu Dhabi do you cover?

We cover Abu Dhabi island, the surrounding islands and the mainland suburbs — Al Danah, Al Markaziyah, the Corniche, Al Khalidiyah, Al Bateen, Al Mushrif, Reem Island, Al Maryah, Saadiyat, Yas Island, Al Raha Beach, Khalifa City, Mohammed Bin Zayed City, Mussafah, Shakhbout City, Al Shamkha and the communities around them. If you are unsure, call us and we will confirm.

Can you visit me at a hotel or my workplace?

Yes. Hotel rooms, serviced apartments, offices, staff accommodation and event venues are all fine. Give the address and any access instructions when you book and we will coordinate with reception or security so the visit stays discreet.

Can the doctor prescribe medication?

Yes. Our doctors can prescribe during the visit where it is clinically appropriate, and will advise you on how to obtain the medication. For some controlled medications, UAE regulations require a different pathway — the doctor will explain if that applies to you.

What should I have ready before the visit?

Your Emirates ID, a list of any medication you currently take, your insurance card if you have one, and any recent test results or discharge summaries. If there is a specific access instruction — a gate code, a tower entrance, a service lift — mention it when you book.

Is home care suitable for an emergency?

No. For chest pain, severe breathing difficulty, heavy bleeding, suspected stroke, severe allergic reactions or loss of consciousness, call 998 for an ambulance immediately. Home care is for conditions that do not need an emergency department.

What languages does your team speak?

Our clinicians and coordinators collectively cover English, Arabic, Hindi, Urdu, Malayalam, Tagalog and Russian. Tell us your preference when you book and we will match you where we can.

Can I book ongoing care rather than a one-off visit?

Yes. Home nursing, elderly care and physiotherapy are commonly booked as ongoing packages — daily, several times a week, or live-in. We build a care plan with you and keep the same team on your case wherever possible.

Do you provide medical cover for companies and events?

Yes. We supply standby doctors, nurses and paramedics for events, construction sites and offices across the emirate, along with occupational health screening, workplace flu campaigns and first aid training. Call us to discuss the scope and we will build a medical plan before the day.

How are you related to First Response Healthcare?

First Response Medical Care Services - L.L.C is an offspring of First Response Healthcare, the UAE home healthcare group. We follow the same clinical standards and protocols, dedicated to Abu Dhabi.

Still not sure? Just call.

No obligation. Describe what is happening and our care team will tell you honestly whether a home visit is the right call.
